#BhaaratKaBharat

Cycling to me is an elixir for the soul.

It’s inspiring to read about the cycling journey and accomplishments of Lt Col Bharat Kumar! Who have set an excellent example of how mental barriers can be broken, and we can achieve our goals with an untiring attitude. Your achievements in the cycling world, like becoming the first Indian to successfully complete any Ultra race in India of a distance longer than 400 miles and completing Race Across America (RAAM) in 2019, are remarkable. Your quote, “Everyone deals with adversity. It’s how you bounce back from it,” is an excellent motivator for everyone.

In 2021, I continued my cycling journey by participating in the 1,200 km BRM in Hyderabad, which I completed in a record time of 60 hours and 20 minutes, becoming the first Indian to achieve this feat. I also participated in the 2,200 km Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) ride, which is considered one of the toughest cycling events in the world. I completed the ride in 89 hours and 40 minutes, which was again a record for an Indian participant.

Cycling has not only been a passion for me but also a way of giving back to society. I have used my cycling feats to raise funds and awareness for various causes, including education for underprivileged children, the welfare of army veterans, and the fight against cancer. I have also been a part of various cycling expeditions, such as the K2K (Kashmir to Kanyakumari) and the Golden Quadrilateral.

My cycling journey has been a rollercoaster ride, filled with ups and downs, but it has taught me valuable lessons that I carry with me in all aspects of life. The discipline, dedication, and perseverance required for cycling have made me a better soldier and a better human being. I hope to continue to inspire others to pursue their dreams and push their limits, just as I have done through cycling.
